Healthy Snacks

Healthy Snacks

I’ve posted about this before, but we all need refreshers! You should never go longer than four hours without some fuel, so when your days are long and meals are widely spread out, you have to make sure you have some balanced in-betweeners to keep your blood sugar levels stable, energy high and body burning as it should. Here are some great healthy snack ideas to bring with you to work and/or to have throughout the day to bridge your meals. 4-5 dates stuffed with 4 -5 walnuts 1 organic apple, sprinkled with cinnamon, 1 tbsp almond butter 1/4 cucumber, 1/2 tomato and 2 tbsp hummus 1 hard boiled egg and an orange 5-6 dried mango slices and a 5-6 brazil nuts 4 hard...

Bouncing Back

Bouncing Back

Listen – I’m going to be very honest. After having some time off – time filled with lethargy, laziness and food comas – getting back in the swing of a routine can feel like pushing a boulder up a very steep hill. Going from elaborate celebratory breakfasts back to oats, flax and berries (although to be honest that sounds pretty great right now) is not always easy. I always tell my clients that we snowball in both directions, yet the unhealthy way is steadfast downhill, and the healthy adjustments are heavier and uphill. Jess’ Favourite Things, Dec 13: VEGA!

I used to be very anti-nutritional supplements back in the day, because so many of the companies used such crazy ingredients in their products. Sure, I want protein – but I don’t want a whack load of stuff that is not actually designed to be in a human body along with it! So, I was a strictly eat-real-food trainer/nutritionist. These days, there are so many more options available to us! This leads me to today’s “favourite thing” – Vega. Vega is, quite simply, a brand that features clean and natural ingredients in its products. No, you don’t need to be Vegan to benefit from it. Many protein powders on the market include soy,...

Satch on Superfoods – Your Challenge for this Week

Satch tells us a couple more super foods to include into our diets. Hemp Seeds – Hemp seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. A three-tablespoon serving of hemp seeds provides a whopping 10 grams of protein. More importantly it is considered a complete protein, meaning they contain all the essential amino acids, making the protein comparable to ones found in eggs and meat. How to eat it: Sprinkle a serving over any stir-fry, salad or oatmeal dish. They are also a great addition to any to any fruit salad. Jessica likes to sprinkle it on her gluten-free toast with almond butter :) Oatmeal – When it comes to...
