Beginners, start with a side plank with your knees on the floor. After you can get to 15 seconds, progress to feet on the floor. After 25 seconds, progress to the following: Side Plank with Feet on the Bosu.

This exercise tightens the whole upper body. It serves as a great alternative to push-ups if you are training at home. It also serves as a great alternative to using a bench, as you recruit more stabilizers through the core, and keep the glutes and hamstrings contracted in the lower body (read: tighter ass).
